About Us

Where did we get the idea of owning the farm?

Natacha Lagarde and Sébastien Descôteaux are co-owners of Sucreries DL, a 4500-tap maple syrup farm acquired in 2010

Launching an online sales site in 2012, they were true visionaries. Family is extremely important to them, as the photo (which dates to 2016, by the way) attests.

In 2018, they planted nearly 600 bearberry plants. Why bearberry? It might have seemed complicated: we originally selected sea buckthorn and bearberry, but since sea buckthorn has thorny branches that could cause injuries to children, we chose bearberry instead! This tiny fruit is well worth getting to know! Delicious with chocolate. It was during the pandemic that Lyana came up with the idea of mixing bearberry with chocolate! As one project doesn’t wait for another, in November 2020, 1770 blueberry plants were purchased and relocated from the Forano blueberry farm.

After opening their physical shop, they invite you to visit them on-site to enjoy a great coffee or a pastry, or even come for pick-your-own fruit!

With the arrival of small fruit crops, a name change was necessary! That’s why over the coming months you’ll see Sucreries DL rebranding as

Hundred Acre Farm!(a new photo as well!)

Having planned our wedding for the same year, one of our friends gifted us a custom website as a wedding gift. We came up with the idea of selling maple products online that are inaccessible to certain people.

So we started selling online in 2012. One thing kept coming up in the comments…you’ll never make it, syrup is just too bulky and heavy to ship online…if only they’d known….

In 2015, a second iteration of our website launched with a simpler purchasing process. Family was at the forefront, as our company’s most important core value was prioritized: family values!

But in the meantime….

I designed a farm shop. A shop where people could come chat and linger while doing their shopping.

Plus, our land covers 100 acres…. What could we do with this plot that was only grown for maple syrup? Mind you, 100 years ago, the Lecours family farmed this land to feed their family.

In Fall 2018, we decided to establish a camerise orchard. Nearly 500 plants were put into the soil. Why camerise… because we thought it had a fruity, joyful flavor, and we were already selling sweet happiness 😉

Maple syrup, chamois cloths... and blueberries!

In the fall of 2020, at the height of the pandemic, our neighbors the Forano blueberry growers contacted us to offer to sell us their blueberry plants. They were considering retiring from small fruit farming, but they wanted to hold onto their soil.

So in the spring of 2021, we relocated 1662 blueberry plants to our land while building the famous shop I had dreamed of for so long!

However, our original business name no longer fit our operations. After thoughtful family discussions and drawing inspiration from the Winnie the Pooh books we read to our children, the name Hundred Acre Farm was chosen. And for those who are wondering, yes, we do own one hundred acres 😉

And here is how La Ferme des Cents Acres was founded

OUR MISSION, even with this name change, will always remain to offer products from Quebec’s terroir through local in-person markets and online, to all those who wish to discover these goods while respecting the environment through our sustainable practices.

Now, people can stop by the shop for a coffee and a dessert while picking up their groceries and enjoying u-pick small fruits when they’re in season.

And what about the future? Our VISION is to create an environment where both our employees and customers feel right at home, while launching new projects to increase the diversity and accessibility of our locally produced goods.

After all, sometimes you have to be patient for our dreams to come true.
